EKO is working with a team of elderly rights advocates to combat the oppressive conditions found in assisted living chains.

Sunrise Senior Living owns 268 facilities across the country. Since 2017, EKO attorney Julie Erickson has fought on the front lines of a class action lawsuit against Sunrise alleging administrators determine residents' needs based on the company's own financial interests rather than resident needs. The case is filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. The judge has granted class certification, allowing the claims to proceed on behalf of thousands of seniors living in Sunrise facilities.
